Old masters for futuristic motoryacht
Russian billionaire Andrei Melnichenko's futuristic motoryacht has made its maiden voyage - to collect three works of art. The unidentified Monet paintings were delivered to the vessel, which has been renamed 'A' after Melnichenko's wife Aleksandra, in the Norwegian port of Kristiansand.
The motoryacht, designed by French designer Philippe Starck, was originally known as Project Sigma and later Project SF99. Its interior includes a glass roof looking up into one of two swimming pools, and it has a luxury loft-style living space as well as six guest cabins and quarters for 42 staff.
'A' was built in Kiel at the HDW shipyard, part of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, and cost in the region of £200 million.
