Amphibious boat nears production
Gibbs Technologies has teamed up with Saleen Inc to manufacture the first major amphibious civilian vehicle since 1961. The Aquada High Speed Amphibian (HSA), which has a top speed of 35 knots on water and 110 mph on land, has been in development for 10 years
The three-seater Aquada, based on the Mazda Miata, complies with all appropriate marine and road safety regulations and will sell for about $85,000 (£50,000). Production of the hybrid craft is likely to be centred in Michigan, near Gibbs newly established corporate offices just outside Detroit.
