The billion dollar race
Valencia, 0900 GMT, 23 June
In just four hours from now the gun will go for what has been dubbed the billion dollar race. For four years 12 syndicates have had this time in their sights. Over this summer one by one the defenders have been eliminated until just one, Emirates Team New Zealand remains to challenge the Cup holders, their old adversary Alinghi.
At that moment, 1500 local time, these two boats will start the first race of the 32nd America's Cup. Within minutes we'll have the answers to so many questions. Is SUI 100 the rocket ship she is rumoured to be? Is ENTZ faster in light airs? And after five minutes, or the first cross, we'll have a pretty good indication who will win this billion dollar race for the world's oldest sporting event.
I'll be there, close to the action watching yachting history being enacted.
